Welcome to Multi-Level Affiliate Rewards! This powerful feature allows you to reward not just the person who made the direct referral, but also everyone above them in the referral chain. This guide will walk you through how it works and how to set it up.
What is Multi-Level Rewarding?
Traditionally, only the direct referrer earns a commission. With Multi-Level Rewarding (often called MLM), you can create a "family tree" of rewards.
Direct Referrer (Level 1): Earns a commission when someone they directly refer makes a payment.
Indirect Referrers (Level 2+): Also earn a smaller commission when a person in their "downline" makes a payment.
This creates a powerful incentive for your affiliates to build and support a larger team, driving more sales for your campaign.
Key Concepts
1. Reward Types & Calculation Modes
How rewards are calculated depends on whether your campaign uses Percentage-Based or Monetary (Fixed) Rewards.
A. For Percentage-Based Rewards
You have two ways to calculate rewards:
Total Payment Mode:
How it works: Each level's reward is a percentage of the original payment amount.
Example: A $100 payment with Level 1 (10%) and Level 2 (5%) pays:
Level 1: $100 x 10% = $10
Level 2: $100 x 5% = $5
Program Commission Mode:
How it works: Each level's reward is a percentage of the reward earned by the referrer at the previous level. The reward amount decreases at each level.
Example: A $100 payment with Level 1 (10%) and Level 2 (5%) pays:
Level 1: $100 x 10% = $10
Level 2: $10 (L1's reward) x 5% = $0.50
ℹ️ Note: The Calculation Mode options only appear if your primary campaign reward is a percentage.
B. For Monetary (Fixed) Rewards
This is straightforward. You simply set a fixed amount for each level.
Example: You can set Level 1 = $5, Level 2 = $3, Level 3 = $1.
If a payment is made, Level 1 gets $5, Level 2 gets $3, and so on.
No calculation modes are needed for fixed rewards.
How to Set Up Multi-Level Rewarding
Step 1: Edit Your Affiliate Campaign
Log in to your Referral Rocket dashboard.
Navigate to your Campaigns and select the Affiliate campaign you want to edit.
Click on Edit Campaign.
Step 2: Go to Reward Details
Navigate to Affiliate Widget
Scroll to Reward Details
Toggle Enable Multi-Level Rewarding
Step 3: Select Reward Type Options (If Percentage-Based)
If you're using percentage rewards, you will see:
Total Payment Based
Program Commission Based
If you're using monetary rewards, these options are hidden because they don’t apply.
Step 4: Add MLM Levels
For each level:
Enter level number
Enter percentage (or fixed amount) based on your primary reward type You can add up to 100 levels
Step 5: Save Your Campaign
Review your levels to make sure they are correct.
Click Next and then Save Campaign.
✅ Done! You’ve successfully enabled MLM Rewards for your Affiliate campaign.
Affiliate Team View
Once you activate MLM for a campaign, you will get access to the Team section inside every affiliate's profile.
In this view, businesses can:
See the complete team structure under any affiliate.
View all members up to the final eligible MLM level.
Understand how the affiliate’s downline is growing and contributing to the MLM chain.
Get full visibility into who referred whom across all levels.
Use Add Member option to add member in affiliate team.
This helps businesses quickly analyze an affiliate’s impact, team strength, and overall MLM network performance.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: How many levels can I create? A: You can create up to 100 levels for a single campaign.
Q: What happens if a person in the chain doesn't have a referrer?
A: The system will stop assigning rewards once it reaches a person without a valid referredByCode or when the maximum configured level is reached.
Q: Does this work with recurring payments? A: Yes! MLM rewards are applied to all qualifying recurring payments.
